Holiday season, amirite? The planning, the food, the activities, the decorations, the traditions, the to-do list. Hold, on. I'm not trying to stress you out. I know this time of year, we typically have extra full plates trying to make the holidays memorable for everyone. ⁠

Maybe we're trying to create that magazine-worthy Christmas. Maybe we're just trying to scrape by because let's face it. These last few years have been insane & who knew that a dozen eggs & 4 sticks of butter would cost eleventy million dollars? Maybe you're spending your first holiday apart from your family, or like me, you're recently divorced & this holiday season is just going to be different than in the past.⁠

The point I'm trying to make is that if you have to forgo some favorite traditions this year, whether for the sake of stress or finances, remember that this ONE tradition is super important: YOU SHOULD ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS TOO. Whatever that looks like for you.⁠

Back when I was a wedding planner, I regularly reassured my brides that no one except me had the day's itinerary. No one had to know exactly what was planned. That they could relax & enjoy their day.⁠
.⁠
The same applies for the holidays. You aren't there to win the "Best Santa's Helper" award. It isn't your job to run yourself ragged just to make sure that everyone else is having fun. There's no bar of excellence that you have to reach in order for this holiday season to be a "success". That's not what the holidays are about.⁠

You don't need permission to take time for yourself. To make sure this is a good holiday for YOU too. But if you feel like you do, I'm here to give that to you. ⁠
.⁠
You can--and should--say no to traditions you don't want to keep anymore. ⁠
You can--and should--create healthy boundaries that allow you to enjoy as much of the holidays as you can. ⁠
You can--and should--do what feels right for YOU this time of year. Whether that means doing the typical holiday activities or keeping it super simple this year. ⁠

However you're celebrating, make it good for YOU too.⁠

With this weather fluctuating so dang much here in the South I just decided that it's gonna be soup season whether it's 50° outside or 85°. I'm wearing a beanie AND socks with sandals to day. ⁠

But what I'm NOT doing is stressing about what's for dinner this season. We're just going to make all the soups and freeze them into serving sizes.
